Day 6: 8.8.22: Upgrade
Upgraded to something wonderful
1. New message
Listening to Dr Bill Winston this morning on the topic of upgraded self was a new insight for me. Of course upgrade is not a new term. But the message hit home and I was inspired when I connected what I heard yesterday about the authority of words with this one. If only I could say that I was upgraded to something wonderful and beautiful, then I was, I could, I am. Yet to practically make sense of this thou.
2. Daniel
I was trying to write my journal entry for yesterday at about the same time, say 7am when my best friend Daniel called from Perth Airport. I hope my neighbors were not woken up with my yelling and screaming of excitement to hear from my beautiful friend. At least by phone call as we chat daily on social media. Not only with excitement to know that he was having the best of his life. But he deserved all of it that life could offer. He works hard, real hard. Travelling, witnessing humans behave in sensible and wired ways. Learning. Simply adventure in every sense of the word. He was now on his way to Bali. Nice and early. Why not. I am very excited and admire how this young man carry himself and live life. I am inspired by him. I am proud of him. He is one of my top picks when it comes to a good human being. Generous, full of humor, simple, down to earth, caring, loving, loyal, kind, spirited. Most of all I love it that he is funny so we can laugh so loud together. We can be very free and have no care at all to express raw and real. We dont judge. You can say we must be crazy human beings. We say in a real good way. On a more serious note, Daniel is wise. He gives me good and average advise and wisdom too. Thank you for still being my best of friends! I am sure you will tell me when you finally were tired of me. Enjoy Bali as always you do anything and I will travel with you through the pics and videos you send me on SnapChat. Laikim Yu Lewa!
Oh btw, in my next write up I will tell you how I met Daniel..
3. Day one of official duties
Was not bad. I actually forgot my start time but wasnt late. I met so many amazing people today on the floor. I did some fulfilling stuff too. I feel great. I have many questions. I will ask and ask again as time goes. That is just how I would like to function. For now. I will not disclose so many details of formalities of today, I chose not to.
4. Then came afternoon
I did my usual daily strolls again down the road. But this time a different route. This route touched me in a moving way. I saw the short stunted gum-trees, and wattles in the sand, The scrubs, the rocks washed clean by the down flowing waters in rain, this was Australia. The outback it was. My high school memories flashed back. My friend Wayne's memories I remembered them raw and hurting so much. If only, he would drop me off here and we would be sharing all these sense of connection with nature together. He loved nature and trees. A simple happy person. I miss him so much. A tear freely flowed down my checks and made my glasses glossy. I sat down and weeped more but when I saw a car pull up through the trees, it seemed close, self-consciousness took over. I stopped, stood up, wiped off my tears, dried my glasses and walked back the same way.
Filled my plastic bag with more pig face and hurried home. Completed planting the left front yard. Gave a bit of drink to all my plantings so far. Thanks to Nathan the handyman I met the other day. I asked him to have a look at my treadmill yesterday and he managed to unfold it. It was plain simple. You just had to pull the lever outwards and it would let go. Only had I known! Oh well, sometimes when you doing all things alone, you miss out on details. I did a bit of walk on it but it was small and short. I will soon get used to it.
Made proper dinner this time. Chicken and avocado salad I would call it. Ingredients include: chicken breast, avocado, lettuce, onion, celery, ginger, chilie (from my tree gifted me by my sweet friend Liz), sage, mint, mixed herbs, cashews, almonds, cumin, pepper, sea salt, white wine vinegar, olive oil, sweet chilie, lime. I think I forget some more..

I'm enjoying reading your blog, Shila, and watching your garden grow. I wish you regular rain and sunshine in between. Summer will come soon enough.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your first day of work was positive and you're meeting the people you will be working with. You will learn from all of them, but they have a lot to learn from you too.
Thank you Chief Dr.
